- A biochemistry & molecular biology student is required to assist with the development of display components and lab demonstrations for a high school outreach program. The project involves development of rapid laboratory demonstrations which can be readily transported and set up in high schools, development of advertising and recruiting banners and literature, and creating a presentation suitable for educational and recruiting purposes related to the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology's Academic Innovation Initiative. The goal of this initiative is to introduce high school students, who are generally not familiar with the scope of modern biochemistry, to the different areas of biochemistry and molecular biology that might be of interest to them. Duties include developing laboratory demonstrations, writing, working in collaboration with the Departmentís Undergraduate Lab Technician, and participation in regularly scheduled meetings with the coordinators of the Academic Innovation Initiative.
Preference will be given to applicants having completed at least two years of a biochemistry & molecular biology undergraduate degree program (or equivalent).
Job dates: May 20 - August 31, 2013
Hours of work: 8:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Closing date: May 13, 2013 (extended until May 16 at 4 p.m.)
